What is the cost of a consultation?

A new consultation costs £200.

A follow-up costs £150.

Mr Hemmerdinger accepts all insurance-covered patients, including:

How much does cataract/glaucoma surgery cost?

Cataract surgery starts from £2485

Glaucoma surgery starts from £2700

Combined cataract/glaucoma surgery approx £4900

It isn't possible to give a fixed price because even though Mr Hemmerdinger's surgical fee is fixed, the hospitals charge differently, but we will always give you a quote before proceeding.

Payments can be made by BACS transfer or credit/debit card.

If you are insured, we will claim from your insurer on your behalf, although, depending on your policy, you may be required to pay an excess.

Mr Hemmerdinger has private clinics and surgeries at:

Are there any additional charges?

Supplementary tests may be required, for example, field tests, OCT scans or Biometry  - these tests are charged separately by the hospital.

If you are having cataract surgery, you will require Biometry (measurements of the eye).

If you are having glaucoma assessment, this would usually involve fields and OCT scans.

Do I need a referral letter from my GP?

Patients who are self-funding do not need a letter, however if you are claiming from your insurer, they usually require a referral letter.
